Cycling in Tuscany
Tuscany has been for a long time a cycling paradise for many pros and riding along we can feel such an amazing vibe and tradition for this sport.
This means having the opportunity of riding on the same hills and slopes many cycling legends trained, such as Cipollini and Bettini up to the most recent Nibali , brought up to Tuscany to develop and become the champion he is now.
The region offers an ideal scenario for cycling enthusiasts of all levels, from amateur cyclists to anyone just wishing to pedal calmly while enjoying the beauty of the landscapes.
The best months for visiting and cycling in Tuscany are in the stretch from March to June and from September to October.
Tuscany is located in the center part of the Italian peninsula and with its mostly a hilly territory, with plains concentrated mostly along the rivers and the coast is definitely the ideal place for riding bikes.
Depending on the area the countryside will change quite significantly from the more forested and mountainous north to the more agricultural and cultivated center part.
From paved roads to gravel tracks you will always be surrounded by history and scenic landscapes.
Like few other places, in order to fully appreciate this part of the world you need to ride on secondary roads where there is almost no traffic if not some agricultural vehicle and where the smell of every season gets strong on your brain.
The rest of the summer months are probably too hot unless you want to commit to early morning or sunset rides. Having said that, Tuscany is still great all year round for cycling enthusiasts!
