NOVA Eroica 2020

Right in the middle of a pandemy I took part to this event few months after its original date.

It was supposed to be runned in summer time but ended being held in late October.

Result of that, a not very stable weather and a wet course. Not a big deal in all fairness when 70% of the route is off road and when you ride on the tarmac you can count on 40mm tyres.

This year it all felt a little bit strange with a reduced amount of participants and a surreal atmosphere.

I decided to do the medium course, about 85 km mostly gravel with 1800m of elevation gained.

Since moment one when I pinned the number to my jersey I started feeling goosebumps from the excitement of racing again after some time.

I managed a first, at the finish line, all covered in mud and pretty exhausted.

It is always great riding near Siena, and Buonconvento fits perfectly as location for this annual event.
